The long jazz summer goes on in the province of Naples. Opened by the Pomigliano Jazz Festival on 10 July and the Vico Jazz Festival soon after, the third edition of the Jazz Festival Circuit, an event organised by the Councillorship to Tourism of the Province of Naples in collaboration with the Councillorship to Tourism and the Cultural Heritage of the Campania Regional Government, continues with four more festivals: Napoli Jazz Festival (Naples, Arenile di Bagnoli, 1 and 3, 7 and 8, 14 and 15 August); Sorrento Jazz (Sorrento, Chiostro di San Francesco, from 30 August through 4 September); Ischia Jazz Festival (Ischia, Pineta Nenzi Bozzi, from 5 through 9 September); Nick La Rocca European Jazz Festival (San Giorgio a Cremano, Villa Bruno, from 11 through 14 September).
The circuit for the promotion, spreading and production of jazz music, born out of an operational agreement involving public institutions and local private companies, and put in place in collaboration with EPT, the Tourist Board of the Province of Naples, presents the most important seasons of jazz music in Naples and its province and will continue until 21 September with the Divino Jazz Festival (Torre del Greco) to be concluded by a concert-event of the Orchestra Napoletana di Jazz conducted by Mario Raja at Villa Ammaturo in Giugliano, one of the most important assets confiscated from the Camorra in the last few years and managed by the S.O.L.E. Consortium.
“Following the success of the events in Pomigliano and Vico, the Jazz Circuit goes on, establishing its reputation as a container of quality music as well as a unique opportunity of promotion and development, especially for the less known areas and sites in our Province", says the Councillor to Tourism of Naples Province, Ms Giovanna Martano. “The Circuit – continues Ms Martano – is a true network of festivals, in which each one makes its artistic choices in complete autonomy, while participating in a circuit that offers itself as a new jazz arena on the Italian scene”.
“The Jazz Festival Circuit – states the art director of the Circuit, Mr Onofrio Piccolo – is an important event for the whole territory. It satisfies all the requirements necessary to act as a lever for future developments of jazz music in Italy, of all similar summer events, is already a much-appreciated reality for jazz lovers and experts".
This year too, Jazz Cards will be available, a unique opportunity to enjoy discounts on concert tickets, some packages offered by local agencies and on several integrated tourist services (hotels, public transport, bookshops, clubs, cinemas, etc.). The list of agreements is available on the Circuit website (www.circuitojazz.it).
A travelling exhibition called “Terra Mia”, organised in collaboration with photographer Pino Miraglia, can be visited in the sites of the festival |
