Third day at the “Nick La Rocca Festival”
Third day at the “Nick La Rocca Festival”. Two extraordinary live sets will take place starting at 8:30 pm: Lino Volpe & Friends feat Richard Galliano, Ernesto Vitolo, Solis String Quartet; Solis String Quarter & Richard Galliano. And it is Galliano, the world’s greatest accordion player, French-born artist with Italian origins, who will receive the “Nick La Rocca Career Award”. Together with the Solis String Quartet Galliano will also accompany singer and writer Lino Volpe, who will record a video to close his tour during which he has performed on some of the most prestigious stages in Italy, like the Parco della Musica Auditorium in Rome.
Lino Volpe: one year later, Lino Volpe is back to the Nick la Rocca European Jazz Festival. The production of the event decided to close the singer and writer’s tour exactly where it had started on 19 September 2007, by recording a CD/DVD (to be released in 2009) which wishes to be an ideal conclusion for the series of performances that have taken the artist’s new musical ideas to many important Italian stages, from Bologna Jazz in Parco di Nocera to the Parco della Musica Auditorium in Rome. Today Volpe is one of the singers and writers who are most appreciated by Italian and international musicians alike, who have played with him in many concerts throughout Italy, including Franco Ambrosetti, Flavio Boltro, Rosario Giuliani, Giovanni Amato and Pippo Matino, For the Nick La Rocca festival 2008 edition, Lino Volpe will play with the band who accompanied him in the studio recording of his first record “I Passaggi Obbligati” and who, based on Pino Tafuto’s arrangements, will bring together Lino’s blues-jazz sound with Richard Galliano’s accordion, the Soling String Quartet’s strings and Ernesto Vitolo’s Hammond organ, in a unique, unprecedented music project which will be the prologue for the theatre tour starting in November. Volpe’s Band: Carlo Fimiani (guitar), Sergio Di Natale (drums), Aldo Vigorito (double bass), Gianfranco Campagnoli (trumpet), Pino Tafuto (piano), Jerry Popolo (tenor saxophone), Ernesto Vitolo (keyboards). Beppe Grillo has posted the video of Lino Volpe’s song “Non c'è pericolo" on his blog (www.beppegrillo.it) to accompany an article in which he discusses the topic of "Insurance in favour employers”. The video has been viewed by thousands of people.
