The festival
Now at its sixth edition, the Nick La Rocca European Jazz Festival still revolves around its original inspiring idea, that is promoting Campanian and Italian artists and hosting great European musicians.
The focus this year is on Bass and Double Bass. True local talents like Pippo Matino, Dario and De Idda will alternate with other extraordinary players of these instruments like Miroslav Vitous and.Renaud Garcia Fons. The first guest of Gerardo Di Lella’s orchestra will be saxophonist Marco Zurzolo, who will also present his new cd released by Egea. An interesting orchestra project directed by drummer Sergio Di Natale will involve first-rate musicians like Pietro Condorelli and trumpetist Marco Sannini Spazio.
As usual there will be space for young musicians in the concert of bassist Diego Imparato and of the Defida Jaxx. Like every year, a career award will be given to one of the greatest international musicians – this year Richard Galliano, who, together with the Solis String Quartet will have his own concert but will also perform with singer and writer Lino Volpe, who will close his tour through Italy (where he has performed on some of the country's most prestigious stages like the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome) by recording a DVD. There will be space also for the talented saxophonist Carla Marciano and her band, including also double bassist Aldo Vigorito. |
